Condensation

Filtration; Solid + liquid

Evaporation; Liquid ( solid dissolved in liquid ) - solid

Distillation; Liquid ( solid dissolved in liquid ) gas - liquid solid

What is

- Evaporation; heating a liquid, turns to a gas

- condensation; cooling down a gas, turn into a liquid.

Aim   to separate a solution from a solvent a solution using distillation

Equipment;  A solution of saltwater, conical flask, heatproof mat, a delivery tube and bung, Bunsen burner, tripod, gauze mat, retort stand, boss head and clam, boiling tube.

Method;

  1.  set up the equipment as shown in the diagram.
  2. Add approximately 50 ml of saltwater to your conical flack
  3. Light your Bunsen burner. Open the air hole and gently push the Bunsen burner under the tripod.
  4. Heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated. Turn off your Bunsen burner

Filtration Experiment

1. We made a mixture
        - copper sulfate
          sodium carbonate

        - copper sulfate = blue see through
        - sodium carbonate - clear / no colour

- mixture - blue, cant see through
we got a paper, and poured the mixture through the paper

- the liquid made was clear
there was blue solid on the filter paper.

Solvent - thing doing the dissolving ( liquid )

Solute - thing being dissolving ( solid )

Solution - a mixture that is formed.

Filtration - separates particles based on size

Filtrate - liquid after it has been filtered

Mixture - 2 or most substances together

Solubility - Ability to dissolve

Mixing Dissolving

                                 Mixing + Dissolving

what is a mixture.

A mixture is a substance made by combining two or more different materials in such a way chemical reaction occurs. A mixture can usually separated back into its original components.

Question

What factors affect dissolving?

solubility is the maximum amount of a substance that will dissolving in a given amount of solvent a specific temperature. there are two direct factors that affect solubility of both solids and gases, but pressure only affects the solubility of gases.

Method
1. 50ml cold water + 1 spatula sugar = mixed
2. 50ml hot water + 1 spatular sugar = stirred
3. 50ml not water + 1 spatular sugar = no stirred

Photo Montage - Visual Arts

For the past few weeks in arts, we have been learning about photo montage, although, I didn't finish the blog post on time due to personal things. My inspiration for this is a mixture of aesthetic vibes with a bit of dark and classy kinda digital effects. I've added different kind of elements to make it more appealing to the viewers.

With this, it visualises who I am as a person such as the things I like, what kind of concept I use to make an art piece.

What is photo montage? A montage is more formal the a collage and is usually based on a theme. It is also used to describe  experimentation in photography and film, in particular.

Film study / Filming

Flaming

Last week we have been working on an awesome task, we had to make a movie about a topic that we can choose, our film should be at least no longer than 30 seconds, any music we will use has to be free so we don't get copyright causing a fine. The film has to include different camera angles/shots and the storyline should make sense to the viewers.
We first chose to do a basketball type film, this will be a plot where in basketball two competitors will challenge. We kept it simple since we have to do a 30 sec movie, there were four members in my team, Myself, Eugene, Gerald, and Jay-c. After choosing our topic we had to make a storyboard that will show our plot for the film.

Workshop 2 Linking themes to the impact of angles, Movement and shots

Brainstorm
                               other
 Whats happening

                              - Wylie standing on stairs outside house. Other mother
aks him to smile from doorway, instead, he frowns.

                               - Other Wylie making self smaller - less of a target - head down
shoulders hunched. looks week and vulnerable

Angles / shot

                                - High angle - makes Wybie looks overpower, week & vulnerable.
POV - other mothers, makes her seen stronger, bigger, more dominant.

  • Viewer - makes viewer feel sorry for / scared for  O Wybie foreshadowing - hinting at whats is to come.
  • Director - hinting that maybe the other mother inst so wonderful.
  • Other techniques - Lighting - spotlight on Wybie - like he's on the spot/under focus - dark around creates a creepy atmosphere

In the scene with the other mother and the other Wybie we see high angle shoots used to show the theme looks can be deceiving, We see this when the other mother asks, the other wybie to smile but he hunches over and frowns instead. this matins the audience feel sorry for the other wybie because he looks scared. the use of a high angle shot from the perspective of the Other mother adds to this feeling as it make the other wybie looks weak and vulnerable. the director did this to foreshadow the change of the other mother from creepy to more creepy. coinciding with this is the used of lighting. a spotlight is on the other wybie emphasising that he is unties the focused of the other Mother. this remids us of earlier in this film where a low angle shot was used to make wybie seem big and scary but really be was just ordinarily. this links to the scene because it also shows a moment when the looks of a character was deceiving.

Work shop 1 Unpacking themes and Ideas.

Them & Ideas - Continuous idea/ subject that links throughout the text.
'looks can be deceiving' - Don't judge a book by its cover
                                       - Don't judge by appearance

Example 1: Character of Wylie - when we first meet him he seems scary ( mask, motorbike
use of high angle to look bigger, land music ) but in reality
                                             hes just a weird neighbour
show theme because like other characters, our first impression based
on appearance, tone, visual techniques aren't always correct.

- Important because helps audience understand with Coraline
that just because something looks good doesn't mean it is -
She should choose the real world over the other world.

Example 2: Character the others mother - she seems normal / friendly
At the start but by the end become a soul
                    devouring spider demon.
-shows theme because other mother' isn't what she appears to be at the start so we shouldn't judge by first impression.
 - important because Coraline realises that having something that looks perfect isn't always a good thing.

Statement - in Coraline , the theme 'looks can be deceiving' is used effectively
                   to engage the audience.

Evidence - for instance, the character of the 'other mother' shows us that looks can be deceiving because she start off as a kind mother figure
but gradually changes into a soul devouring demon.

explanation - this make us understand that we shouldn't judge a character
audience       based on first impressions as they can often be wrong.

explanation -  This is done to help Coraline decide between the real world and the other world. if the director          other mother' was really perfect Coraline wouldn't choose to go home.

explanation - combine with this is the use of colour and lighting. the other mother first appeas in a vibrantly bright room that make us feel warm and safe. however, by the end it has become dark and green which makes the viewers feel scared and show that hers first look was deceiving.

Your link - this can be juxtaposed to the character of wybie who we think at first is evil but is actually kind, proving looks can be deceiving.

Philippines Independence Day

PHILIPPINES INDEPENDENCE DAY
Philippines | Philippine flag wallpaper, Philippines culture
Independence Day is an annual national holiday in the Philippines observed on June 12, commemorating the declaration of Philippine independence from Spain in 1898

Archeological evidence suggests that the Negritos, a broad term for indigenous people of dark complexions, reached the Philippines around 25,000 years ago by a land bridge from the Asian mainland. Waves of Indonesians followed by sea from 3,000 BC, and Malays got a firm foothold around 200 BS, followed in later centuries by waves of Chinese settlers. Most of today's Filipino have grown out of intermarriages between indigenous and Malay people. Modern Filipino culture, including language and cuisine was heavily influenced by the Malays, who also introduced arts, literature, and a system of government,

The Philippines has over 7,107 Islands and in simple words a local couldn't explain how many festivals are held in the Philippines as there are hundreds of barangay, municipalities, towns and cities in 80 provinces and each barangay, municipality, town and city including provinces has their own festival either in honor of a Saint, a religious festival, seasonal change, harvest, or in honor of the place itself. The Filipinos are happy and joie de vivre type of people. They are satisfied with life and love to laugh and tend to love people with humor, which most festivals represent. Most of the festivals are vibrant and energetic and many are of Hispanic influence. Because of the uncountable number of festivals, the country is often dubbed as, "The Fiesta Islands". Among all festivals Christmas is the biggest, widest and longest celebrated in the Philippines, which starts from September and lasts till January perhaps the longest Christmas celebration in the world.

How does your hand Work

ands have a very delicate and complex structure. This gives muscles and joints in the hand a great range of movement and precision. The different forces are also distributed in the best possible way. Thanks to this structure, you can do a wide range of things with your hands, such as grip objects tightly and lift heavy weights, as well as guide a fine thread through the tiny eye of a needle.
Hands are also quite vulnerable, though: Tendons, nerve fibers, blood vessels and fairly thin bones are all positioned right under the skin and are only protected by a thin layer of muscle and fat. Only the palm is protected by a strong pad of tendons aponeurosis enabling a powerful grip. Our hands are put through quite a lot every day, and often come into contact with potentially harmful objects. As a result, hand injuries and problems due to wear and tear are very common.
The right and left hand are each controlled by the opposite side of the brain. Usually one hand is preferred for carrying out fine and complex movements, so we often say people are either right- or left-handed.
